Torn is:
Brett Crockett - vocals, guitar
Bruce Fulford - drums
Paul Vinyl - lead guitar, vocals
Brian Templeton - bass
Torn pound out hook-oriented, attitude driven songs full of emotion and power. Their approach to alternative rock is undeniably unique with melody and groove being an integral part of their appeal. "While we certainly want to overwhelm everyone with the band's power, the most important thing for us is for the songs to burn in your head", says Brett the band's vocalist. Formed in 1995, the band ignited with an immediate sense of chemistry when Brett Crockett, originally from Chicago, hooked up with drummer Bruce Fulford. Bruce, new to San Francisco after a few years "living the music scene" in London, found they shared a unique musical direction. Looking for the perfect guitarist the new band met up with Paul Vinyl who had just relocated to the west coast from New Hampshire to find "surf and sun; instead I found San Francisco". They immediately began writing and recording songs in their rehearsal studio, within an abandoned naval base on the San Francisco bay. "The shipyard holds the largest collection of artists, painters and musicians in the whole world and that explains the atmosphere and vibe of the place", relates Bruce. Bassist Brian Templeton became the newest member of the band, forcing his way into the position in 1997. "I got a tape, blew a fuse and told them that I was the player they needed." Brian had spent most of the last few years in the San Francisco music scene.
