Inflatable Monkey's sound comes from the diversity and personalities of each member: lead singer/lyricist Mark Cragg is a longtime fan of indie bands such as Oasis and Stereophonics, as well as Nirvana and Iron Maiden. Guitarist/composer/musical director Chris Walls was brought up on Queen, Guns N Roses, and Metallica, but with an affection for Frank Zappa and Captain Beefheart. Drummer Michael Ditchfield's influences include Nirvana and Blur, and bassist Tom Martin's include Megadeth and Led Zeppelin. The Inflatable Monkey live show is an often unpredictable beast - great original songs like 'Mr Morbid', 'Missing Presumed Dead', 'My Friend Enemy', and 'Hey Georgina' stand alongside audience fave 'Titanic' (a once contemporary hard rock bastardisation of Celine Dion's 'My Heart Will Go On'), and improvised jam sessions around well known tunes (some previous examples being 'Mission Impossible', 'Jingle Bells' - from the 1999 Christmas gig, and 'The Great Escape'). Add to that some awesome audience participation (The X-Mas 1999 Dance Contest was a memorable one), topical anecdotes, and awe-inspiring musicianship (Chris 'Widdleman' Walls living up to his moniker and never failing to drop the jaws of everyone in the house) the Inflatable Monkey live show is never one which leaves audience members unsatisfied.
